I am almost 16 weeks right now and this week we were able to find out that we are expecting a baby BOY! I was not shocked at all because I really had a feeling it was a boy, but it was kind of surreal seeing it really was a boy. I think after you have one gender, you have a hard time really imagining having the other. It's kind of a weird feeling, but I love it. The morning of our ultrasound I had butterflies in my stomach, and as soon as she put the wand on my stomach we saw the little bug kicking up a storm! The technician kept swiveling around and at one point I swear I saw a little boy part. I didn't want to ask until she had the perfect view, but I already knew. Finally she said " well...this is a baby boy!" I just started laughing and Scott had a big smile on his face (I know he secretly hoped it was a boy). The baby gave a little wave and we told Ava this was her little brother, "wittle brudder? awwwww cute baby!" she said looking at the baby moving on the ultrasound screen. It was such a cool moment. Seeing Ava being so excited and then knowing we are going to have a totally different child in a number of months, it was all really amazing feeling.
I have been doing really well lately. No major symptoms, all of my (small amount of morning sickness) is gone! The only thing I have been noticing is my hips and legs are killing me every morning when I wake up, even though I sleep with a body pillow! I think it is from my joints loosening, but I didn't have that until the 3rd trimester with Ava so I am surprised I have it so soon this time, but I really can't complain! I have not been nearly as emotional this pregnancy as I was my last. I just get annoyed and mad faster, and maybe am a little snappier than last time, but I definitely have better control of my emotions this time. No random crying spells, and I think it has to do with me housing a little boy :) The only major craving I have had is for lemonade. I have to have it all day everyday. If we go out to eat, I have to order a lemonade. I even have a stock of Simply Lemonade in my fridge, and when we go to the grocery store Scott always remembers to ask me if I need to get more lemonade. Such a good boy, always looking out for me:) This week I have also felt the baby moving. I felt a few tiny flutters last week, but this week I was definitely sure it was movement. They are not often, but I love it when it happens. I can't wait to see this babe and love him so much already!
P.S. getting ready to take these pictures my husband said "you are going to stand on the ice?"
...yeah? Why not? :)
